JAMIE HOOVER & BILL LLOYD
Paparazzi
Paisley Pop is proud to release the debut collaboration from
two legendary figures of power pop... Jamie Hoover and Bill Lloyd
with special guest drummer, Dennis Diken (of the Smithereens!).
Separately Jamie Hoover and Bill Lloyd have established themselves
as luminaries of Power Pop during their 20+ years in music. A
joint project between the two was as natural of a progression
as 1-4-5. Joined by Smithereens drummer Dennis Diken, their collaborative
debut is everything a fan of their previous works could ask for,
with songs influenced equally by The Beatles, early Big Star,
Anglo pop and Everly Brothers-styled country; in addition to the
requisite big, ringing guitars. .

LAST TRAIN HOME
Time and Water
From Washington, DC, this alt-country album of great song, played expertly by an ever-expanding band (eight members including harp, horns, and pedal steel at last count) beg comparisons to the Mavericks and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. And as big as Last Train Home is, it only stands to reason that these varied players bring in many different genres as well. R&B influences the group on brother Alan Brace's "He's the Kind" and the Latin/mambo instrumental "Las Lagrimas del Pollo Rico" showcases Kevin Cordt's trumpet
"Alt.county fans, stop here! Starting with "Lorelei," a song you'll find humming all day, this amazing collection of songs will begins its journey at a place of happy-go-lucky love with stops at some wistful moments and sobering memories to a destination of reminders of days long ago. This CD is a soundtrack for long car trips, slow commutes, family reunions, and Saturday housecleaning. Their arrangement of Bill Monroe's "Walls of Time," will simply blow your socks off, horn section and all."

STEPHEN LAWRENSON
Every Summer
I first heard Stephen Lawrenson last December when I received a 4 song EP in the mail from Susquehana, Pennsylvania. While initially my expectations based on the pretty straightforward song titles was low, on first listen, I was immediately impressed with Stephen’s songs and production. At first, they reminded me in some ways of early ELO without the strings. Something about his voice had a similar quality to John Lennon’s on “Across the Universe”. Stephen and I corresponded, and I encouraged him to put together a full-length album for me to release. The results are “Every Summer”, a collection of infectious jangly pop meets post punk. Playing all the instruments and recording the whole thing on his own, the results are surprisingly sonically sophisticated. Lawrenson’s hooky-but-rollicking melodies pay audible tribute to his great love for mid-'70s rock and ‘80s-‘90s jangle pop
"10 perfect tracks timed to such an affect they most certainly do not over stay their welcome but leave you wanting more without the frustration of not being able to get it. The rich harmonies(and their carefully layered arrangements) are a balm to all our pop senses with their uplifting refrains." -Bruce Brodeen, Not Lame
