THE PILLCRUSHERS
Welcome To The World
US 11 song debut from NYC quartet led by singer/guitarist Greg Beshers who also plays with Parasol's Mark Bacino. Small batch pressing in slimline case. “Genius, that’s basically how I would describe myself,” says Greg Beshers, lead singer of the Pillcrushers. “and I know that my shop teacher in high school would probably say the same thing.” With their first full-length release, the aptly titled Welcome to the World, The Pillcrushers are starting to garner the kind of attention that goes along with such proclamations as genius, ubiquitous, irreconcilable and transcendent. With a brash mix of Mathew Sweet, Wilco and Tom Petty, they play pop tunes with just enough umph to make you turn your head and listen again and again. But when all's said and done, all they really want to do is hear you hum along to their songs.
The material is uniformly excellent and captivating. There`s a fine pedigree w/ this band, too as Greg Beshers plays with Moe Tucker(Velvet Underground) and Tommy Borscheid with The Honeydogs). "These guys take pop to heart and play with understated elegance"-TimeOut New York. "its emphasis on remaining catchy, on being no-frills guitar-bass-drums-organ rockroll, and on being smart as hell. All good things to be sure, but the bottom line is how often it pulls you back"-BangSheet. "

SPIKE PRIGGEN
The Very Thing You Treasure
Spike Priggen paid his dues in the New York scene for nearly two decades, playing in several bands including the Liquor Giants, the Hello Strangers, and Dumptruck. At 37, Priggen finally released his debut solo album, which demonstrates his considerable versatility. Priggen effortlessly blends his singer/songwriter sensibility with everything from power pop to punk. Citing as influences the '80s New York/London punk and new wave scenes, as well as the power pop of Cheap Trick and Big Star, Spike Priggen makes a wide variety of pop music, which ranges from subtle chamber pop to loud, bombastic garage rock to forays into psychedelia.
The Very Thing That You Treasure, Priggen will tell you, has been a lifetime in the making. Quite frankly it’s been worth the wait. He’d heard Dwight Twilley when he was fourteen or something, and then got into Big Star ("before everyone jumped onto that band"). Which burned his brain with rock and roll passions for Cheap Trick, Wire, Buzzcocks, and the Only Ones. Shifting tides of the times, shifting sounds that feed his now sounds. "I was a big dB’s fan when I was a kid," Priggen says. "But it all goes back to Twilley," Priggen admits. "I bought that "I’m On Fire" single and it was over
"Filled with guitar jangle and brash, peppy '60's pop rhythms, and bittersweet lyrical heart-grinding" - NO DEPRESSION
"Effortlessly blends his singer/songwriter sensibility with everything from power pop to punk" - ALL MUSIC GUIDE
"A melodic, bittersweet minor-key masterwork" - STEREOPHILE

THE QUAGS
Devils Music
Finally! The sophmore release by Portland, Oregon's
the Quags is a powerful yet more refined follow-up to 2002's
Out In The Community on the Paisley Pop Label.
Recorded by Brian Berg of 44 Long, mixed by Brian and
Eric Furlong (Sunset Valley), and produced by the Quags and
Berg, DEVIL'S MUSIC preserves the same Replacements-like
rock n' roll party spirit present in their first CD with songwriter
Dennis Mitchell throwing some more pensive moments in
the mix.
From optimistic rockers like "Cobblestone Groove" to the
soulful pop musings in "Send In The Clouds" Mitchell and
the Quags deliver a taut (but not slick) album of well crafted
songs that can complete a thought and deliver a left
hook in under three minutes flat.
On DEVIL'S MUSIC the Quags sound reminiscent of
The Small Faces, The Kinks, Big Star, The Rolling Stones
and The Jam, looking backward while moving forward along
with kindred spirits like The Minus 5, White Stripes and Sloan.
Great press from Magnet, Amplifier, In Music We Trust,
and many others followed the release of OUT IN THE
COMMUNITY along with placing on many year-end
Top 10 lists.
DEVIL'S MUSIC finds the Quags in top form
and ready to rock again!

THE QUAGS
Out In The Community
Out In The Community is the powerful debut from Portland, Oregon’s The Quags, a band that builds upon the greatest rock grooves from the 1970’s. Co-produced and engineered by Eric Furlong (Sunset Valley, 44 Long), it was mostly recorded live with classic songs that bring to mind the best moments of The Faces, The Rolling Stones, Ziggy Stardust era David Bowie, and The Kinks. More contemporary references might be found with artists like Whiskeytown and White Stripes.
An exciting electric album, energetic rough and ready with a sense of musical history but channeled for the 21st century. On Out In The Community, the band is joyful, raucous, and fiery playing with equal parts musical precision and reckless abandonment.
The Quags play glam rock channeled through the same plaid shirt rock n’ roll party spirit that fueled The Replacements. With smart heartfelt lyrics found in songs like “Danna Was An Artist” and “Living Hell”, singer/guitarist/songwriter Dennis Mitchell sounds like equal parts Ray Davies and NRBQ’s Terry Adams.
The
The Quags’ Out In The Community is an album which should appeal to any rock music fan who ever enjoyed Let It Bleed, Every Picture Tells A Story, and Muswell Hillbillies.

THE RITE FLYERS
Rite Flyers
On their eponymous debut, the Rite Flyers ascend into the indie pop clouds with the help of Spoon's Jim Eno, who lends drums and production help to the album's six best (out of a total of 16) tunes. And it's on these tracks that the Flyers — aka the songwriter/guitar duo of Steve Collier and John Clayton — reveal a keen sense of hooks, harmony, and melody. From the gorgeous, driving "Skyscraper" to the heart-wrenching rock of "Ex-Wife Birthday Card" and on to the Lemonheads and Matthew Sweet-reminiscent "It Makes No Difference" --John Luerssen, All Music Guide
Like Bob Pollard's Ohio-based song combine GBV, Austin's Flyers practice several styles all loosely orbiting the same power-pop nucleus: snappy electric rockers, plaintive acoustic odes... -Christopher Gray, Austin Chronicle
The Rite Flyers are among Austin, Texas' best-kept secrets. For the last few years, they've been off in their home studio, honing a new brand of kaleidoscopic pop, but sharp music fans will recognize the band's front men: Steve Collier led perhaps Austin's most raucous, fiery guitar band of the '80s - Doctor's Mob; John Clayton was a key member and songwriter for Balloonatic, a psychedelic wonder brimming with unforgettable songs. Heading into the '90s, the duo joined forces, forming the late, lamented Sidehackers. The Rite Flyers' new record reveals a sackful of sparkling pop/psych gems. Veering from pure rhythmic crunch to gorgeous floating balladry, clanging, rainy-day rockers to irresistibly rendered power pop, the Rite Flyers remind you of everything that's important about pop music - immediacy, unfettered melodicism, lyrical acuity, and instrumental flourishes painting each song with a hard-won emotional complexity.
