Hi, my name's Jim Huie. I started the Paisley Pop label in 2001 to
release my own album project's worth of songs under the name GIRLS SAY YES.
Well, here it is nearly 4 years later, and I've continued on with releases
from other fine jangle-pop and Americana artists.
Running a small indie label is tough, especially when it's a one-man operation. I do my best to provide great service, quick delivery, and a selection of music which I personally really dig. First and foremost, it's a labor of love. I've been a music fan since I was three years old and my oldest brother gave me my first Beatles 45.
(Hmmm... Beatles and 45, what does that tell you about my age? Yup. I'm old).
Before starting this label, I was a musician in a long list of garage bands over the years, mostly playing drums, and occasionally guitar. I worked nearly a decade at
music stores. I was a DJ on college radio, and later on a country station. Later on, I managed a couple of bands, and was an audio engineer/producer paying my dues with many late night sessions.
Finally left the East Coast to move to Portland, Oregon, where I finally followed my dream and started this label.
I've had the honor of releasing albums from musicians I've been fans of for years like
Tim Lee, Bobby Sutliff (The Windbreakers), Jamie Hoover & Bill Lloyd, as well discovering some great new talent like Happiness Factor, The Saving Graces, Sex & Reverb, Jason Byrd, Milkshake Jones, The Swivel Chairs, The Rite Flyers. And then there's some good friends like Crack City Rockers and The Quags.
Thanks for visiting the Paisley Pop website. Hope you enjoy the music.
